History: With its Gothic towers, the Tower Bridge is a famous London site. 900 times a year, the bridge parts to allow tall ships pass through. From its high level walkways, you can see the modern City skyline and look down river to Canary Wharf. Bridge construction was completed in 1894 to ease congestion crossing the Thames River on the East side of the London Bridge, the area of a busy port.
