Located at Giza, this is the famous Sphinx, a massive statue of a lion with a human head, carved during the time of Khafre. The Sphinx of Giza is a symbol that has represented the essence of Egypt for thousands of years. Carved from the bedrock of the Giza plateau, the Sphinx is truly a marvel from the days of ancient Egypt. The body of a lion with the head of a king or god, the sphinx has come to symbolize strength and wisdom.
This incredibly detailed bead was designed by San Francisco Bay Area artist Shani Yokoyama, then hand carved by a master bead wax carver, and then cast in high quality sterling silver with oxidized accents. Clean only with a silver cleaning cloth, and do not use silver polish dip. Be sure to pair it with the Egyptian Pyramid Landmark Bead (shown in the second alternative view), as this Great Pyramid is also located in Giza. Collect all seventeen of the Landmark Beads (see more in the alternative view) to remember your travels.
