Carina's Shipping Policies
In-stock items are shipped within 72 hours of receiving payment from you, Monday through Friday. Orders placed over the weekend ship on Monday. We have these methods of shipping: Standard (3-Day United States Postal Service (USPS) Priority Mail), Federal Express Overnight, and Federal Express 2nd Day. We occasionally use UPS Ground for bulky items such as our plaques. Packages shipped via UPS will be left at the entrance of the customer's residence or business unless the customer specifically requests that UPS obtain a delivery confirmation signature. For foreign orders, we generally use US Postal Service Global Priority mail or airmail. Foreign orders may take 2-6 weeks to arrive due to customs procedures that are outside of our control; tracking foreign orders is also not possible. We reserve the right to decline any order.
Standard. Our standard shipping method is via United States Postal Service 3-day Priority Mail which arrives with your regular US Mail. We charge a flat $6.95 fee for up to one pound of items. You will receive a trackable number from us for standard shipping in the US. Our order form defaults to Standard shipping for the US including APO military addresses. Except during the holiday season, it is our general experience that West Coast and Midwest orders arrive in 2-3 business days, and the East Coast orders arrive in 3-4 business days from the shipping date. Delivery to rural or remote areas may take a day longer.
For items weighing more than a pound, Carina will contact you with the increased shipping rate and obtain your consent to the revised shipping amount first. If you are in a rush, you may consent to the increased Standard shipping rate in the Special Instructions field of the Checkout form. We unfortunately cannot guarantee arrival once the package is mailed from our shop and put in the hands of the US Postal Service. The customer assumes the risk of postal or UPS loss. Standard shipping of large items, such as our Pisano plaques, is via UPS Ground service. Carina charges a flat rate for this shipping method, unless the plaque is very long and may cost up to $28.00 to ship via UPS. Delivery takes 3 to 7 days.
Federal Express Overnight or Federal Express 2nd Day. In a hurry? You may expedite service by picking either (1) the Federal Express Overnight shipping ($28 for weekday delivery or $34 for Saturday delivery) or (2) Federal Express 2nd Day ($22). If the item needs to go in a box, the Federal Express charge will be increased to $38. Federal Express service is available Monday through Friday.
Federal Express Overnight: Federal Express Overnight service is a flat $28 fee for domestic shipments and goes by Federal Express Standard Overnight service. On Fridays up to 2 p.m. Pacific time, overnight Saturday delivery via Federal Express is also available for a flat fee of $38. If you desire Saturday delivery on an order placed on a Friday, you must tell us you want expedited Saturday delivery in the Special Instructions field of the Checkout form. Your shipping charge will show as $28 but we will manually adjust the shipping charge upwards for the $38 Saturday delivery rate.
Federal Express 2nd day service Federal Express 2nd day service arrives on the second business day after mailing. "Business day" excludes Saturday, Sundays and federal holidays.
For all Federal Express services: Expedited Shipping is not available to post office boxes, APO/FPO, or Puerto Rico. On the Checkout form, please give us the phone number of the person to whom you are sending the package. We also recommend that someone be there to sign for the FedEx package. If you wish us to release the FedEx package without signature, you must authorize release in writing on the Checkout form and by doing so, you assume the risk of theft once delivered by FedEx to the shipping address. We typically email you the Federal Express tracking number so you can track your package yourself on the Federal Express website, www.fedex.com, the next morning after Carina submits it to FedEx. We recommend you use Federal Express shipping if the package is $100 or more in value so that you have a tracking mechanism.
Packaging and Shipping Policies. Carina ships in USPS Priority Mailers, using bubble mailers if necessary to protect your items. Larger purchases such as ceramics, marble, or art items require special packaging and shipping depending on bulk, weight and your location; contact us for shipping quotes on items over one pound. Carina reserves the right to adjust shipping costs on such items but will obtain your consent first, either orally or in writing.
US Territories and Military (APO/FPO) Addresses. We routinely ship to US territories, such as Puerto Rico and Guam, and US military addresses (APO/FPO). As to military addresses, expedited delivery via Federal Express (or UPS) is not available due to US government restrictions. The fastest method of shipping to a military address is our Standard Shipping via USPS 3-Day Priority mail. Orders for Army Post Office (APO) addresses ship to the Army Post Office depot. The military handles the delivery once the packages arrive at the designated AA, AE or AP address. From that point on, the delivery is subject to military delivery schedules. It is our general experience that deliveries to APO addresses take anywhere from 3-21 days extra to arrive, but it is out of Carina's control due to the military delivery schedules. We unfortunately cannot guarantee arrival once the package leaves us, and the customer assumes the risk of postal loss.
International Shipping. The cost to ship internationally varies depending on the size and destination of the shipment. In general for typical orders that are below one pound and not unusually large or heavy, we have a $9.95 standard Canada shipping fee, and a $24 flat rate via US Postal Service Global Priority Mail to the United Kingdom, Western Europe, Scandinavia, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. We also occasionally ship via US Postal Service Airmail where the cost of US Global Priority mail is prohibitive. Otherwise, Carina reserves the right to adjust the total international shipping charge, but will obtain your consent orally or in writing before we ship. Due to the uncertainties of foreign customs processes and the postal services involved, the package may arrive anytime between 5 and 45 days from shipping, and in most cases, there is no tracking services with US Postal Service Global Priority Mail. (There is a tracking number provided by the USPS but once the package goes into a foreign mail service's hands, the tracking usually stops.) The customer assumes the risk of postal loss once the package leaves our shop.
Carina routinely ships to Canada via US First Class mail for a flat $9.95 shipping charge for under one pound of items. Our Canadian customers report that the package usually arrives in 5-21 days. However, on occasion, shipments to Canada are sometimes delayed up to 30 days by the Canadian customs process, and such unusual delays are out of Carina's control. Shipping costs for orders for large items weighing over one pound will be based on then prevailing rates. We will contact the customer for approval of the unusual shipping costs before processing the order.
Duties and Taxes. Our prices do not include duties or value-added taxes If assessed, these charges are the responsibility of the package recipient, who will be billed for them by the local Customs office. Please keep this in mind when shipping a gift to a destination outside the US.
Paying for an International Order. All prices are listed in U.S. dollars, and payment must be in US dollars. When you pay by credit card, the credit card company will calculate the exchange rate and include it in your monthly statement.
Orders with Payment by Cashier Check or Money Orders (US Only).
If you do not wish to send your credit card information across the Internet, please choose "Money Order/Cashier's Check" instead of the Credit Card option in the "Payment Method" field of the Checkout form. Please prepare a cashier's check or money order (no personal checks please) payable to "Carina Jewelry, Inc." in the total amount shown on the order and mail it to: Carina, Attention: Orders, 697 Bowles Lane, Gardnerville, NV 89460 USA, with your order number and name written on the face of the money order or cashier's check. Once we receive payment, we will ship your order within 72 hours. We reserve the right to cancel orders where we have not received payment within 10 days of order placement. We do not accept cashier checks and money orders for foreign orders.
Payment by Paypal Now Accepted
If you wish to pay by Paypal, select "Payment by Cashier Check or Money Order" then send payment to "email@example.com" via Paypal and be sure to reference your order number (ex. CAR46000) in the Paypal form. Once payment is processed by Paypal and received by Carina, we will ship your order promptly.
You may return unworn or unused items within 14 days of the shipment date and exchange it for another item. This policy is subject to three exceptions: (1) Gifts may be returned within 30 days of receipt for exchange; (2) Handpainted charm sales are final due to the unique nature of the charms, except if the charm is defective within 90 days; (3) If you purchase a sale item, the sale is final unless the charm is defective upon arrival.

Please include a brief note with: (1) your name, (2) shipping address, (3) phone number, (4) Web order number, and (5) a brief description of the problem; and (6) specifically what item you would like instead (give us the item SKU and full title). If you owe us money after the exchange, you may indicate for us to change the difference to the original credit card or to call you for a new credit card number. (Please do not email unencrypted credit card information!) We generally process your exchange within two business days of receipt. Defective Italian charms (enamel chipping off, art lifting on charm due to poor solder job) and other defective products will be replaced for up to 30 days after date of purchase.
Full Refund Policy for Non-Sale Items.
With the exception of sale items, you may return the unworn or unused non-sale item for a full refund of the item price excluding the shipping cost within 14 days of the shipment date. The item must be in original condition and unworn, otherwise no refund will be given.

Please include a brief note with: (1) your name, (2) shipping address, (3) phone number, (4) Web order number, and (5) a brief description of the reason for return, and (6) indicate you wish a full refund on your original credit card. We will process your refund on the original credit card within 48 hours of receipt, and email you the credit receipt at the shipping address on your order. Purchase of sale items are final; please no returns unless defective upon arrival.
Please indicate to us on the Checkout form when you are giving a gift that is being shipped directly to the gift recipient. We strongly recommend that you include a brief gift note (complimentary) under the Gift Note field in the order form. We hand write the personal message on a small white gift card and envelope (similar in size to the little floral shop gift cards) and include the gift note with the gift. It is Carina's policy that regardless of whether the customer told us it is a gift, if we see different names and addresses for the shipping address and billing address, we will ship the goods to the recipient at the shipping address, and mail the bill to the person listed at the billing address. Carina sells velveteen bags (in red, burgundy and royal blue tones at SKU GB1) in small size (holds up to 6 charms) and large size (holds a bracelet) which you can order for $2 each when completing the order form. Don't worry if the charm ends up being a duplicate gift! Carina accepts exchanges within 30 days of the purchase of the gift and we are very liberal about this policy during December.
Our policy is to ensure that any personal information you provide us remains private. We only collect personal information to process billing, fulfill orders, send you promotional offers, and provide you with a personalized and customized shopping experience. We will never voluntarily sell your personal information to any third party for any reason. We will only call you if we have a question about your order, need to inform you about an out-of-stock item, you have asked to be notified when a charm comes into stock, or to alert you to a promotion for free items for which you have qualified related to your order.
The security of your information is a top priority for us. When you place an order with us, you will use a secure server. Our secure server software encrypts the personal information you submit and scrambles it as it crosses the Internet. It uses sophisticated public and private key technology, in an effort to ensure the complete confidentiality of your information. We believe this sophisticated security procedure will keep your credit card information and other personal information private. Carina requires that you provide the customer ID code of your credit card, the billing name, the billing address, and telephone number when placing your order using a credit card. This assists us in protecting cardholders from fraudulent transactions. We thank you in advance for your cooperation in providing this information to us. We reserve the right to decline a transaction if such information is missing, incomplete or incorrect.
Please do not order out-of-stock items as that may hold up the rest of your order as we try to contact you. Fill out the In Stock Notification form to be notified by email when that item comes back into stock. You should also check Carina's What's News regularly and check the "Back in Stock" list there. Given the nature of Italian charm supply and depending on the supplier, our experience is that supply of a specific Italian charm can range from readily available to being available only once. Carina's charm buyer advises: "If you see a charm or bead, you can't live without, buy it now or you may miss out forever!"
Reservation of Right to Decline an Order.
We reserve the right to decline an order for any reason, including but not limited to nonpayment, evidence suggesting fraud or other criminal activity, billing address or shipping information that do not match the credit card billing address or name, lack of security code or expiration date for a credit card number, incomplete checkout form of key information, or the failure to give Carina key contact information like a valid email and working phone number. We will attempt to notify the purchaser promptly in such an instance. We prosecute fraud and theft with the proper governmental authorities.
